It’s a sad thing to see the service end notices of the Mingol series, there have already been two games in the series which have seen an end to their online servies. Today is the last day of service for Minna no Golf Portable 2’s Online capabilities.
No doubt they are freeing up the service for the up coming Minna no Golf 6 and also hoping to migrate the PlayStation Portable players onto the new PlayStation Vita.
I didn’t really play much of the Online aspect of Mingol P2 due to the lack of interactivity with the other players you are playing with and how vulnerable the service was to exploits and bad connections.
The truth is it doesn’t really take up much server bandwidth as all games are hosted by players and the server is just a meeting point for players to connect with one another. It is in fact a web based service that probably could be easily emulated with enough reverse engineering. So I believe they are ending the service just to move players onto the newer system…
Well enough about that, hope those who are still playing the Portable series enjoy their last network games and get the best scores they could ever achieve in front of the other players that are playing today.
For those that really love the game you’ll still be able to network play using the Ad-hoc party software available on the PlayStation 3. On the plus side, there is no timer and you can chat with your fellow golfers.
I’ll see some of you in Minna no Golf 6 for those that move on… 😉
