Minna no Golf 6 Guides Updated…

Just a note to those who bought the Disc version of the game, if you are having trouble getting online make sure you have registered your Japanese account from the the special disc menu in game.

If you bought the disc you will still need a Japanese account to register your Online Ticket which is actually contained within the game disc it self… It should be an option under the XMB menu for the disc. Failure to do so will give you an error when you try to play online. I was not aware of this as I have the PS Store copy of the game, you can play the game from any account after you have registered the Japanese account to the service.

Hope this clears up any issues people are having with getting online. At least those who have the disc can receive some bonus content such as limited edition PlayStation Avatars for your PSN Account.

On another note, I have updated the guide so people who are trying to get the Crown Challenges will know what they need to do… I might do them as well because playing with the Move is just too much of a slow progression.

Hello Mr. Shihiko,

I live in the U.S., and just bought both Vita and PS3 version of this HSG6 (Minna No Golf) game. So, what should I do first? I am thinking of making one Japanese PSN account. Should I do that first before registering my Japanese account to the Game as you mentioned above? By the way, I bought the disc or hard copy for both of them (Not the download from PS Store).
I am quite new to this, so I am very looking forward for you help.
What is XMB stands for, may I ask? And what would cause the failure to play this game online? I am a little confused by the message above. Also, I could use any accounts to play this Japanese version online once I have registered with my Japanese PSN account (which I am going to make one soon), correct?

The column below, you also mentioned something about the VIP card. So, if I have both Japanese version of this Minna no Golf 6 from both Vita and PS3, I can get the VIP Card? I haven’t got into more details from your provided link yet. However, it is not hard to get, right?

Hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you so much and sorry for asking several questions.
Again, I am new to this and quite excited to be working on this game soon!

Thank you again!
Best regards.

XMB is the home PS3 menu… it stands for Cross Media Bar.

If you own the Physical copy of the game there is another menu on disc other than to play the game. You need to use a Japanese account if it is the Japanese region of the game and then you need to activate your online ticket from this menu. Once this has been activated on the account you should be able to switch to any other account on the PS3 to play the game online.

To get the VIP card you need to sign into the game online on both the PSV and the PS3 from the same account. This means only the account that can go online on the PSV can obtain the VIP card. So this suggests that you will be locked to using a Japanese account if you wish to have the VIP access. Basically your account must own both titles or have both online passes for the game to enable the VIP status.

hey shihiko, i have done all of this with a japan account, did the disc benefits thing, even went to the psn store and entered the online pass code behind the game disc to no avail…something even downloaded and installed but i dont ever get an option on the main screen to get online…any ideas?

December 6, 2012 at 12:57 pm

What do you mean by main screen? Online menu appears in game… You select Online then it opens up some more menus such as Daily Tournament, Enter Lobby, Avatar customisation and rankings.

December 6, 2012 at 1:01 pm

my main screen only has new game and continue and a mingol.net

December 6, 2012 at 1:37 pm

Ok so online must be the 3rd option in there…I click it and I get a screen with 3 options and it doesn’t let me advance…anyway I can send you pics?

When do I receive those avatars? I thing I just did a big mistake. I logged on an old account and clicked Disc Benefits, it redirected me to the PSN Vita version of MINGOL6.

Before using the Online Code, I remember that I had no idea what was my password for the account and created a new one. Now I can’t use the Disc Benefits in this new account (I think it was only per account) and used my Online Code. But I didn’t get any premium avatars. 🙁

January 12, 2013 at 1:17 pm

Depending on how long ago you bought the game, premium avatars were only available to the first time release versions of the game. So if you didn’t receive a little sticker on the packaging it is probably not available to you in the first place.

Disc benefits are locked to one account so if you use the wrong one to activate it it is now gone. 🙁

January 12, 2013 at 6:11 pm

Ah I see, thanks. Bought it two weeks later (was hoping for an US release announcement).

Is the discount the only “disc benefit” then? Well, I won’t miss it anyway.

January 12, 2013 at 6:19 pm

Well yeah, that and the online code to play online. Once registered it’s bound to the account. Also maybe a PlayStation Plus trial ticket comes with the disc.

Hi Mr.Shihiko,

I have already created the Japanese PSN account for playing this game in Japanese version. I have got some progress on the Vita version, and now today I am trying to get the VIP card by using the same PSN account on PS3 version. However, when I got online back to the lobby and looked up my lobby character on Vita again (it called, “Avatar”, right?), I still didn’t get the VIP status.

Do I need to use the online passcode that locates behind the PS3 game disc as well? All I did today was just signed in and play a bit on PS3 that’s all. I haven’t used that code behind the disc to try to get into the lobby online yet.
Also, what are the “Disc Benefit” the guys above are talking about?

I saw there are two some type of codes on two sheets of paper on the left hand side in the PS3 disc box/cassette box (have equal letters and numbers just like the online passcodes on Vita or that behind the PS3 game disc). Do you know what those two codes are? If so, how to use them or what are they good for? Are these the “Disc Benefit” the guys above are talking about?

Sorry I keep asking you but I’m quite new to this, especially getting around the Japanese version like this 😛 I really can’t wait to be a VIP in the lobby online. ><
Thank you so much again.

You do need to activate the online code for the PS3 also to prove you have both copies of the game. It is how the system knows you own both and rewards you with the VIP status.

Disc Benefits is just the avatars for PSN if you bought the copy of the game during the early weeks of the game’s release.

January 18, 2013 at 12:20 pm

Hi Mr. Shihiko,

Thank you! I will do that!
Yes, I bought the PS3 copy since day1 (or in the first week it was out)! How can I get the disc benefits, could you please instruct me?
Also, what are the 2 codes on the little piece of white paper I saw on the left hand side in the cassette box holder, do you know? I looked at them and those two codes do have the same amount of number of letters and numbers just like I saw on the online passcode. I was thinking to put it in to try out just for fun, but I was afraid I mess something on my account up. That’s why I didn’t do anything with them.
Anyway, thank you so much for all your help and clarification!
Best regards!

Oh, I forgot..
You mentioned something about moving the Minna no Golf 5 file first..on the another message/comment box. Could you please teach me how to do it? I am kinda have no idea how to do it ><

I don't have a lot of files/saves on Minna no Golf 5 though : )

Thank you so much again!

January 18, 2013 at 1:03 pm

Just start a new save on that account on Mingol 5, that will be enough to activate the lobby parts bonus when you start a new game on Mingol 6.

The other bonuses for buying the disc is a trial for PlayStation Plus.

January 20, 2013 at 5:45 pm

Got it! Thank you so much!!!
I have another question I would like you to help me, please.
Because I couldn’t read Japanese, could you please teach me how to do the Blue Power shot (The tilt one on Vita) to me? I saw on the tip/teaching screen and it seems to show me how to do the Blue Power shot or the tilt one on Vita.
On Minna no 5, I can just press square, but apparently, I don’t think it will be the same on this one if I am right about that screen. Thank you again.

January 21, 2013 at 10:52 pm

It is the same but you have to time it to be at the same time as when you impact.

January 22, 2013 at 10:12 am

You mean, tilt up when setting the power and tilt down when doing the impact? On Vita, that’s what I do. Or you mean when finished doing the impact spot (after the power gauge comes back), I have to shake the controller front and back/or up and down? I tried a few times but haven’t been successful yet.
Why they have to make it so hard? Why can’t we just get the same as the 5th one : (
Thank you so much again.

January 22, 2013 at 7:15 pm

You just have to do the action and time it perfectly with your impact. It is really all about timing, but Vita is always going to be easier compared to the PS3 method.

January 22, 2013 at 8:24 pm

So, do move the controller downward when setting the power and move it upward when making the impact? Right?

Thank you again.

January 24, 2013 at 7:22 pm

Still not succeed. I must have done something wrong. Did u mean we shake the controller once we hit the impact on the way back? Please help me. I got stuck on one crown challenge that I need to use the Blue shot to help me get on green in one shot on Par 4 hole. Without your help, I will not be able to get the crown for this challenge for sure.

January 24, 2013 at 7:47 pm

… Just come back to do the crown later with an expert character. They can make most of those Par 4s in one shot.

January 24, 2013 at 11:12 pm

Wish you would be kind to teach..
But well, thank you anyway.

January 24, 2013 at 11:54 pm

I mentioned it is about the timing, you’re meant to flip or tilt the controller at the same time as impact. If you’re only wanting it for the crown then I was saying alternatively you can get an expert character to complete the crown for you later so you’re not stuck on just trying to get that crown.

Also another method is you can use the PlayStation Move controller and get it 100% of the time if you time it right.

Timing is the key if you don’t have it it is probably badly timed. Try work on timing in training rather than expecting to get it for tilting the controller, the tilting doesn’t do anything if you don’t time it right. :/

Many people have trouble with it, it isn’t as easy as on the PSVita but it isn’t impossible if you practice and experiment in training to get the hang of it. I’ve tried to teach people but it never works for them so I don’t think it is a solid method for everyone.

Most people use a lure fishing type of action while other twist their wrist and rotate the controller 180-360 degrees. Just find one that works and stick to it is what seems to be the best method. What I know is you can do anything you want as long as the timing is perfect it will work… if you won’t listen to the tip about timing then I think you aren’t getting that you are doing it wrong.

Hope this helps others who are still having trouble with Extra Power Shots.
